Atlantic City Blackjack Gold from Microgaming: Game Review - make the dealer go Bust!

If you are a fan of playing Blackjack then this game was tailor-made with you in mind!

Blackjack has always been a staple of most casinos but Microgaming decided to notch it up a few levels with this version of Blackjack. This is the Gold series version which features numerous improvements over the standard Atlantic City version also made by Microgaming. The first thing you will notice is how smooth the whole layout has been designed and how easy it is to navigate around.

The object of this game is to beat the dealer by either obtaining a total of 21 or less that is higher than the dealer’s total or by making the dealer go bust when they exceed 21.

Special Features

The first feature I encountered when I started to play this game was that you can play “Free Play” so I chose this option as a way of easing myself into the game before deciding to place any real bets.

This game is played with 8 decks that are shuffled before each game and the Dealer is allowed to sneak a peek when they show an Ace or a 10-value card. When this happens, you are given the option to buy insurance so as to protect yourself on your next hand. This bet is equal to half your regular bet amount and it only covers your original hand. If the dealer attains Blackjack, the Insurance bet will pay odds of 2 to 1.

A cool thing about this version of Blackjack is that there are no restrictions to doubling down as long as you only do it with your first two cards and that the cards also form a split. It is possible to split your hand up to 3 times for a grand total of 4 hands. It is worth noting that Aces can only be split once and you and the dealer will only be given one card each before the Dealer makes you Stand.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

The game’s presentation is wonderful and its layout is really easy on the eye. The Blackjack table is superbly detailed and all the chips, bets, and cards are easily accessible. Cards glide across the table in a smooth fashion and the animations are nice and crisp.

There is typical lounge-style music that accompanies this game and a nice softly spoken English lady narrates the game. It all adds up to quite an immersive Blackjack experience.

Win lines, Payouts and Jackpots

The game is played with 8 regular decks, has an amazing RTP of 99.65%, and the maximum bet that you can place is 200.

Our Verdict on Atlantic City Blackjack Gold

Atlantic City Blackjack Gold is produced by Microgaming and it’s an excellent iteration of Blackjack and one that I thoroughly enjoyed playing. Even though it does not contain any bonus features, it is a very polished version of an extremely popular card game. I also liked the fact that there are Auto-Rebet and Autoplay buttons so you can play some rounds automatically without having to change anything while playing.
