A history of the Genting brand

Genting Casino is one of the top casino brands throughout the world but did you know that the Genting Group was actually founded by a Malaysian entrepreneur named Tan Sri Lim Goh Tong back in 1965? His vision was to build a luxurious hill resort within the reach of all Malaysians. It was quite an arduous task and in 1971, the first hotel at Genting Highlands was opened and it is known as the popular Theme Park Hotel nowadays.

This hotel was a huge success and led to the opening of four more hotels which are Genting Hotel, Highlands Hotel, Resort Hotel, and the First World Hotel. The company was also able to buy two apartment blocks at the hilltop and this lead to the opening of the Awana Genting Highlands Golf and Country Resort. Genting Highlands Resort quickly became known as the “City of Entertainment” and the premier resort for all tourists and Malaysians to visit. With a casino, theme park, concert shows and lots of shops then it has certainly more than earned that title!
