The PokerStars rewards program ‘Star Rewards’ was first introduced in May on a trial basis in Italy and Denmark. It has been as resounding success and is now being rolled out worldwide. The program went live in Spain, Portugal and France on July 4th before becoming available in the rest of PokerStars’ territories from July 6th onwards.

Through the ‘Star Rewards’ program regular visitors to the site will rewarded with special prizes. With the program players earn points based on how much poker they play as well as other factors such net deposits and stakes. For every €1 paid in rake or tournament fees players will receive 100 reward points. Every player is given a unique points target which when reached will unlock rewards. A progress bar follows the players progression towards the point thresholds. The reward comes in the form of a ‘Chest’. There are six types of ‘Chests’ each with its own maximum prize value. Only 1 in 10,000 chests will contain the maximum prize so you’ll need luck on your side. The prize can be cash, rewards points, tournament tickets, free sports bets, free casino play, StarCoin and other prizes. The rewards are tailored to each individual so for example players who are not interested in sports betting will not receive sports bets as rewards.

There will also be amazing instant win prizes which will change periodically. PokerStars have stated they will include online satellite tickets to play in the World Championship of Online Poker, entry to PokerStars Festival and entry to PokerStars Championship tournaments. Note that reward points will not be earned on ‘No Limit’ and ‘Pot Limit’ cash games where binds are £$€5/£$€10 or £$€20/£$€40 Fixed Limit games. The maximum values of the chest rewards are:

• Blue Chest - £$€100
• Bronze Chest – £$€250
• Silver Chest - £$€500
• Gold Chest - £$€750
• Platinum Chest - £$€1,000

Announcing the global rollout of the scheme the director of Poker Innovation and Operations at PokerStars Severin Rasset said; “We have designed an exciting and inclusive program that will appeal to all kinds of players, we aim to make every game count and reward their loyalty whatever they feel like playing”. By offering rewards tailored to every player and benefits not just based on frequency of play PokerStars are trying to appeal to more casual players, ones who might only play online poker only a few times a month.
