Coral's Boxing Blunder

2017-05-23 15:07:48

A tweet posted from the company’s account on Thursday has caused a furore after the company mistakenly put up a picture of gangster rap legend 50 Cent instead of boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Let’s Get Ready To Fumble!

The tweet was in relation to the much-anticipated bout between Irish UFC superstar Conor McGregor and American boxing great Floyd Mayweather. The text above the unfortunate image read ‘McGregor Vs Mayweather is one step closer. McGregor claims his side of the deal is signed.’ The now infamous tweet was reporting on the move by McGregor that made the fantasy fight a bit more of a reality by applying for his boxing license from the WBC. The negotiations necessary for the fight to take place have apparently started and it would be a safe bet that both fighters will be looking for huge pay-outs from this exhibition event. If the fight does go ahead it will break serious records for viewership and money made by the competitors.

The previous record for take-home pay by boxers is also held by Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather from his monumentally hyped fight against Philippine fighter Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

The close fight will also prove lucrative for bookmakers as it is difficult to call it one way or another which will cause a huge amount of people to back the wrong fighter over the winner.
