The Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe

The Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe is one of the biggest races in the horse racing calendar with top class horses coming from all over Europe and beyond. One only needs to look through the list of previous winners to realize the quality on show. It is a Group 1 flat horse traditionally held on the first Sunday in October. The race is open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older and it is held in Longchamp just outside Paris. The race is run over a distance of 2400m, and the best middle distance horses this side of the Atlantic will convene for a race for the ages.

The Betting Picture at Paddy Power

Wonder filly Enable, receiving an allowance from her male counterparts, is a hot favourite to win the race currently trading at even money. The John Gosden trained horse has swept aside her rivals in awesome fashion this season and it will take a strong performance to stop her. The good ground may favour the second favourite Ulysses, who has plenty to find with Enable but was impressive last time out. He can be backed at 15/2.

There will be plenty of Irish interest in the race, with Aiden O’Brien the only man to record a 1-2-3 in the race. He has plenty of top-class runners heading for France, headed by the exciting filly Winter and long distance specialist Order Of St George. A strong pace will certainly suit the latter and he can be backed at 12/1.

Best Price Guaranteed

Remember you get the Best Price Guaranteed at Paddy Power, meaning if the horse goes of bigger odds than you have taken, you get that bigger price.

Previous Winners

French wonder mare Treve captured the hearts of a nation when completing the double, winning the race for a second year running in 2014. Top stallion Montjeu won this race in 1999 and Irish eyes looked on in amazement as Sea The Stars cruised its way to the front in 2009. The race was won by Found last year in record-breaking time, and Enable is a strong order to continue the dominance of fillies in this race in recent years. The first ever running was in 1920, won by Comrade.
