Craps is one of the most popular casino table games and it not very difficult to play! Mastering craps skills will definitely improve the likelihood of you winning lots of cash. This exciting table game is very popular in both physical casinos and online casinos as once players get the hang of the game, it can be very rewarding. If you’re new to craps, or you want to improve your skills, here are some tips which will help!

The smooth craps table

In physical casinos, there is nothing better than getting your hands on the craps table. Most craps tables are double layouts which makes the game even more enjoyable. At the side of the table, you will find the boxman, who supervises the game and takes cash collected by the dealers and deposits it in a drop box. Opposite the boxman, you will find the stickman, who uses a stick to push the dice to the shooter. The stickman plays an important role in craps, controlling the tempo of the game.

Making craps bets

Between the boxman and the stickman are boxes for proposition bets and hard-way bets. An example of a hard-way bet is betting that a 6 will be rolled as two 3s before either a 7 or any other 6 is rolled. At the sides of the tables are two dealers whose role is it is to take bets, pay off winners, and collect losing bets. You and the other craps player will encircle these side areas. In front of the players is the “Pass” line, which is a bar that extends around the table for players who are betting with the shooter. Another “Don’t pass” bar is for players who are betting against the shooter. The areas which are marked “Come” and “Don’t Come” are for bets similar to pass and don’t pass.

The craps field

The area in front of the players is marked at the “Field” which is for a one-roll bet that one of seven numbers will show up. Boxes which are marked 4,5, six, 8 , nine and 10 are for “Place” or “Buy” bets that the number chosen will be rolled before the next 7. Six and nine are spelled out in letters instead of displaying a numerical value because players are standing on both sides of the table.

How to make bets

The come-out roll begins the betting sequence and it is the best time to place “pass” bets, by placing chips on the pass line or “don’t pass” bets on the don’t pass bar. If the come-out roll is 7 or 11, pass bets win and don’t pass bets lose. If the come-out roll is 2, 3 or 12, that’s called craps and pass bets lose. If the come-out is any other number that becomes the “point”. If the point number is rolled again before the next 7, pass bets win and don’t pass bets lose. You are allowed to bet on any two-dice combination possible, however, new craps players should limit themselves to a handful of bets that offer the lowest house edge.

Craps is a game which can be tricking to get to grips with in the beginning, however, with a bit of practice, it can be very rewarding and worthwhile, in terms of entertainment and monetary gain!
