Pyramid Poker from PlayPearls: Game Review - beat the dealer in style!

Take on the dealer and show your best hand in this fast and easy to play version of Poker.

Poker is one of the most popular card games ever created. So much so in fact that there are many variations of this game out there right now to please many a poker player. One such variation is Pyramid Poker. This innovative take on Poker is inspired by the Pai Gow version of Poker which is an extremely popular Poker game found in casinos all over the world. The big draw of this game is that the player is playing only against the dealer and no one else.

The game is played with a standard 52 card deck without jokers and adheres to typical poker card rankings except that Aces are always high.

Special Features

The simple premise of this game is to beat the dealer with a better hand. The game itself is a stripped down version of Pai Gow Poker and instead of using 7 cards, this game uses only 3. The hand rankings are the same as most poker games except that Aces are always high. To start the game, you will need to place a bet and to do this you just have to select some chips from the table. The chips vary in value from 1 all the way up to 100. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a high roller then the purple chips will be to your liking as each one is worth a cool 100! As soon as you are happy enough with the chips you have chosen then you just need to click the “Deal” button to begin the game.

You will be given 3 cards from the deck that are face-up and the dealer will also be given 3 cards which are face-down. The cards are arranged into a 2 card hand and a 1 card hand. For the 2 card hand, there are no straights or flushes and only a higher ranked hand wins in both the hands. It is worth highlighting that the 1 card hand will always be less than the 2 card hand.

To beat the dealer, the two hands of the player must be higher than the dealer’s hands. If you win both ways then you will win a payout of 1 to 1. If a situation occurs where only one hand is higher and the other hand loses then the bet is a push which essentially means a draw and the original stake is returned to the player. You will lose your bet if the dealer wins both ways so always hope that you have a stronger hand when playing this game!

A nice feature of this game is that you can place the same bet again and again by simply pressing the “Rebet” button after a round has been played. If you prefer to remove the current bet then all you need to do is click the “Clear Bet” button and then place a new bet.

Theme, Graphics and Sound

The graphics are fairly basic and rather dated to be honest, but this game does not need any razzamatazz as it focuses purely on the excitement of beating the dealer with a stronger hand. The backdrop of the game is a dark green felt casino table with two Sphinxes as part of the design. The cards are dealt with some smooth animations as you eagerly anticipate the dealer’s hand in the hope of beating them.

There is no real music to speak of but you will hear from the live dealer as he announces when to place bets and when a hand has been won or lost.

Win lines, Payouts and Jackpots

The game is played with a standard 52 card deck and has a respectable RTP ranging between 96% and 97%.

Below is a summary taken from the PayOut Table from the game:

Chip Value: 1.00, 5.00, 25.00, 100.00

Winning Both ways pays 1 to 1.
Winning One way results in a Push.

Our Verdict on Pyramid Poker

Pyramid Poker is produced by PlayPearls and it’s a very fun variation of poker to play. It is quite evident as soon as you start playing this game that it was designed to be a much more accessible and faster version of Pai Gow Poker. The presentation is not as modern when you compare it to the latest poker game releases but do not let that deter you from playing this game as it is all about the thrill and excitement of beating the dealer here.
